Boo!

This is a picture of my Hallowe'en wax warmer. The licorice wax is wasted on my back deck, but it looks so cute! Super-cheap digicam has a bit of life in it yet.
I used to hate waiting for the goblins to call. Couldn't get anything accomplished with one ear on the back door. But this year, oh boy! I am sitting at the back door, keeping my eye on all 19 of the festive candle-lanterns, sipping café latté from my "Happy Hallowe'en!" mug, wearing one of my dish-cotton hats, and knitting my acrylic pink poncho while cackling at nothing in particular. It just doesn't get any better scarier than this.

Holding Shape

I held up Bozo (olé!) while my needles were at the front, and it was poncho shaped. You could actually see the line up the front, and the diagonal stripiness and the triangular shape. Woo-hoo!

Ole!

See those pictures? I finally read the labels of the yarn, and discovered that my sock yarn and eyelash yarn were meant to be together. "Hot Tamale" and "Salsa" ! Hee hee. (Um...what is a tamale, anyway? Anyone really know? I took a poll of my family, and the result was 2 thought it was some kind of Mexican food. One thought it was a kind of pepper. )

whoa, this post sucks. Time for some much needed sleep.

Bozo Lives

So, here are the (horrible) pictures of Bozo. This camera has no flash, so I had to stand on a chair, and hold the thing up to the light while DD17 snapped away. (Click on post title to see the giggling infancy of this future poncho.)

The middle picture tries to capture the slitheryness of this stuff. Looks like an action shot, it's trying to crawl away on it's own. Weird.
This bottom picture is actually not bad as far a colour goes. Just wanted y'all to see that I really was knitting. But as I said before, it is S L O W . For me, anyway.

Poncho slow

Wow this poncho is slow. * Every. Stitch. Must. Be. Worked. There are no "rounds" here, just stitches. But, it is progressing. I started on my second ball of Cha-Cha.
I think it is my fault it is so slow, I did call it a caterpillar.

*(I lifted this brilliant writing technique strait from Yarnharlot. Check her out, she really is funny. )

Poncho update

Bozo the poncho has a new reincarnation! (This is about Number Eight for poor old Bozo.) We are using a modified Harlot. Back and forth on the honkin' big 10mm needles until the piece is wide enough for the 10mm circs. This is using 1 strand of Bernat Sox and 1 strand of Cha-Cha. I am cautiously optimistic!

Good News/Bad News

OK, let's get right down to business. The Good News is: I have discovered a new website that has already earned a spot of honour in my unordered list of favourites. (No, wait--I arrange the buttons by colour...) Anyhoo, it is called Stitchy McYarnpants. Check it out, stage right.
As you can see, I am also finding my *dangerous html skills are coming back to me. (Skills, yeah, right! Ha!)
Good News also: soon I shall have the courage to tackle Bozo Poncho again, now that I have new circs and new 2-circ skills. My "Very Harlot Poncho" is looking like the picture on the pattern, except that hers is made with luscious quality natural fibre, no doubt, and mine is pink variegated bargain acrylic. (I refuse to apologize. That's the way it is.)
Now for the Bad News: My knitting picture capabilities are "gone with the worm". Gotta find a new program--and a new camera, for that matter. I am hoping some of DD17's friends post a comment about the picture program...It is very difficult to talk knitting without pictures...

We're Baaaaack!!!

Oohh, we're back! The computer has been de-wormed and immunized, and is home. Popups are few, and life may be good in a while.

Funny Link

I suggest my daughter's friends click on the above link.
Found this really funny bit at Mason-Dixon Knitting, and subsequently discovered that I have forgotten most of my html tricks. So I don't know if the above link will work, and if you want to see Mason-Dixon Knitting, use the button on my sidebar. It was created before the crash of both computer and my brain.

weekend update

Started Poncho. Using 1 strand Patons Cha-Cha, and 2 strands of Kroy "Bernat Sox" sock yarn, knitted at the same time.
Actually looks and feels as if it might work. More update when camera fixed and home computer fixed.
